Check of level of electrolit (at the batteries demanding service)
If the storage battery not BMW firms is bought, it is a question, as a rule, of the so-called low-served battery. In this case, if level of electrolit falls below MIN mark, it is required to add one-two time in a year the distilled water. All sections of the battery should have the identical level of electrolit being between marks of MAX and MIN.
Level of electrolit is checked surely outside. If it is impossible to make it, remove carving covers and glance in section from above. Level of electrolit should be on 5 mm above lead plates.
Check of density of electrolit
The electrolit density in a combination to tension of the battery provides guidance on degrees of a zaryazhennost of the battery.
The electrolit temperature at measurement should not be lower +10°С.
1 Switch off ignition.
3 Ship in electrolit денсиметр and suck away such quantity of electrolit at which the float will emerge. The specific weight (density) of the taken sample of electrolit is higher, the float more emerges. On a scale of the device it is possible to consider value of specific weight (g/ml) or degrees to Boma (+ °Ве).
4 Density of electrolit should be not less than 1.20 g/ml. If value of density is lower, the battery is necessary for charging. Address to Specifications.
5 Consistently check each section of the battery. All sections should have identical density (the maximum difference of 0.04 g/ml). The big difference indicates battery damage.
Check of tension of rest of the battery
The condition of the storage battery is checked by measurement by the tension voltmeter between battery poles.
6 Disconnect battery poles, address to the Section Removal and installation of the storage battery.
7 Battery should be disconnected in 2 hours prior to check.
9 Assessment of results of measurement:
12.5 In or above - the battery in a satisfactory condition
12.4 In or below - the battery in an unsatisfactory condition, is required a charging or battery replacement
10 Attach a negative cable (-) to the battery, address to the Section Removal and installation of the storage battery.
Check of tension of the battery under loading
11 Attach the voltmeter to battery poles.
12 Ask the assistant to start the engine and consider thus tension.
13 in the course of start at a full charging of the battery tension should not fall below 10 In (at electrolit temperature near +20°С).
14 If tension falls at once and the electrolit density in sections is various, the battery is damaged.
